Weaning Twice…

Breastfeeding is one thing dear to me..it is one promise that i made when i decided to get married..to breastfeed my kids until such time that they are able to get enough of it. Thus me and hubby decided with the eldest Ethan that breastfeeding him until the age of 2 is quite enough, and so we did also with Troy.. now he turns 2..and so here we are again in the process of weaning..so far the results are quite what we expected and we hope for it to gradually set in.

The joys of motherhood don’t come that easy..Pain, anger and frustration can set in..thus the condition ” post partum syndrome”. But if you have prepared yourself for motherhood, then surely you can always dance with the tide..With a lot of prayers and support from family, i believe it has encouraged me a lot in going thru breasfeeding..

Selflessness is one virtue i learned thru my course of breastfeeding my two babies in 5 years..that in order to care for them, one must give more than what is expected..to think about their health, the benefits they can get for being exclusively breastfed and economical benefits too. Friends would always have a common comment for me..that i’ve gone FAT..it’s because i have chosen not to go on diets post-partum because i needed all the energy to breasfeed..fatty acids found in breastmilk are essential in the development of a child’s brain and whole body..how can i produce a good breastmilk if i go on a diet?..and so you have it..from my pre-marriage weight of 55kgs..i went up to 65kgs and i haven’t felt so bad about it..because i know i am doing a good thing..not for me..for my precious kids. I can always go back to my ideal body weight, and in time i will..

For first-time moms, please breastfeed your babies not just for a month or two..if you can, then do it for a year!!! stop thinking about going back to work and having to formula-feed your child! do it for the sake that you chose to be a mother!..stop thinking about other people’s comments or ideals…find it in your heart to care for your child with one thing that only you, a MOTHER can give…
